Inner City Winemakers is an urban winery and cellar door at Wickham, five minutes from Newcastle's city centre and within walking distance of the CBD and working harbour, and the company describes it as unique in Australia. It blends a love of inner-city culture with a passion for Australian wine.
Head winemaker Rob Wilce has more than thirty years in the industry, refining his craft at some of the Hunter Valley's finest vineyards. The wines are made on site from premium grapes from New South Wales regions including New England, the Hunter Valley, Mudgee, Orange and the Hilltops, and the whole team is involved, from crushing and fermenting to blending and label design.
The cellar door is open Thursday to Sunday for tastings and sales, and doubles as a venue for exhibitions by local Newcastle artists.
