Running Horse Wines is a small Hunter Valley vineyard on hard, rocky ground with poor soil structure, ideal for premium grapes.
Its 11 acres are cropped exceptionally low: about half a tonne per acre for Shiraz and around a tonne for Semillon and Verdelho, with winter pruning and bunch thinning before veraison. The result is intensely coloured, flavoursome wine in very small quantities.
