Vinden Wines

Vinden Wines is a family-owned winery at Pokolbin in the Hunter Valley, established in 1990 by Guy and Sandra Vinden and now run by their son Angus, a second-generation winemaker and viticulturist. The family farms with organic and regenerative practices and makes minimal-intervention wines from its own Pokolbin vineyards.

The Vinden Estate vineyard, on heavy red clay and first planted in 1995, grows Shiraz, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Gamay, Pinot Meunier and Alicante Bouschet. In 2021 Angus and his wife Hannah bought the historic 90-acre Somerset vineyard, first planted in 1891 and replanted from 1965 by the Howard family, who managed it for six generations. Somerset fruit has gone into wines by some of the Hunter's greatest names, including Maurice O'Shea, Len Evans and Karl Stockhausen, and today grows Semillon, Chardonnay, Shiraz, Chenin Blanc, Fiano, Verdelho, Tempranillo and Gewürztraminer.

The estate has a cellar door and boutique accommodation, and is home to a menagerie of heritage-breed poultry.
