King Valley

A north-east Victorian valley known for Italian varieties and Prosecco, settled by Italian farming families.

History

The King Valley was long a tobacco-growing area, worked by Italian immigrant families. As tobacco declined from the 1970s, families such as Pizzini and Dal Zotto turned to grapes, and Brown Brothers, founded at Milawa in 1889, grew into one of Australia's best-known family wineries.

In the 2000s the valley became the home of Australian Prosecco.
